Census Date Map Mapper and Analysis

1. Where is it?
The topic of my map that I am analyzing is the percent female across the United States. On this map, I have noticed many things. One of the things I have noticed is that towards the west side of the United States, there are less women than on the east side. In places like Nevada, Idaho, Oregon and Wyoming, about half of their state has less than 50 percent females. In Alaska, the whole entire state has less than 50 percent females! Heading over to the mid eastern and east side of the United States, the female population rises. In places like Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky way more than half of their state has 50+ percent females. In places like New Jersey, Maine and Massachusetts almost all of their state have 50+ percent females.
2. Why is it there?
A possible reason that there are less females on the west side of the United States is that immigrants, particularly illegal ones, are more likely to be male. The highest percentages of immigrants are in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Therefore, one reason there are more men in those states is because of the immigrants coming into those states. A possible reason that there are more women on the east side of the United States is that more women attend college, and there are better and more colleges on the east side. People tend to end up living where they went to college.
3. What difference does it make?
Since there are an uneven amount of males to females in many states this could affect the U.S. drastically. The population of the United States could suddenly decrease because of the uneven amount of males to females because the reproduction in some states could decrease.
